Coach Aavo Tomkov remarked, “Our GBHS Co-Ed Tennis team is continuing to improve. Even North County’s head coach commented about the correct way that most of our players were serving (the good ole “karate chop, high five” using a continental grip- our athletes know what that means).”

Tomkov added, “We coaches (referring to Coaches Wais and Bugenhagen) liked what we saw out there today. Too bad that we won’t play them a second time this season since there’s no doubt in our minds that we would win in a team rematch. Yes, we’ll continue to work on getting even better during practice.”

Tomkov announced match MVP as Nick Mullen. “He had the hardest match against [North County’s] #1 boy’s player.”

Additionally, Tomkov shared that honorable mention is shared among the #1 girls doubles team (Princella Antwi/Patricia Santos), #1 boys doubles team (Matt Henson/George Schrauder III), and mixed doubles (Natalie Mullen/Sokheng “Sunny” Ly).

The next matches are scheduled for Friday, May 21 away at Northeast High School.
