Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, many senior events have had to be canceled. While all seniors won’t be able to enjoy all the anticipated activities that seniors enjoy throughout their final year, we are recognizing some of the GBHS seniors. One senior that I got the chance to interview through these unprecedented times is JaN’ya Brown.

JaN’ya is the senior class treasurer and helped to plan the senior events such as prom and graduation that regrettably never happened. Her plans went from a fun graduation with family and friends to “Zoom calls”. Once the pandemic clears up she will organize “small get-togethers” to make up for the lost senior events.

She still has many plans ahead of her as she is going to the York College of Pennsylvania to study Forensic Chemistry to be a Forensic Criminalist.  She shares great advice to the class of 2021: “Don’t let obstacles and discouragement from others stop you from reaching your goals. You are amazing and will go far.”  She also discourages sleeping in class for any grade level!

“In the end this pandemic has had a major effect on all of us, and seniors especially, but we need to stay strong and look towards the future together,” Brown advises.
