In sci-fi media and other things alike, the idea of combining man and machine have always been fascinating to most. Neuralink might be the first leap towards making that fantasy into a reality. Neuralink is a US startup company developing implantable human-computer interfaces such as a neural lace. The company was founded in 2016 by Elon Musk, a man who dreams of merging AI with the human brain.

While it may seem too complicated to understand, neural lace is a super-thin mesh-like material that would be injected into the skull. The lace serves as a collection of electrodes that can monitor brain activity, strengthen brain function and even provide treatment for brain disorders including severe depression or Parkinson’s disease. Though Musk is mostly excited that the technology with giving humans the ability to “upload and download thoughts.” This may sound like a villain’s plan to overtake society but, Musk describes his goal as a needed way to avoid being outpaced by artificial intelligence in terms of thinking capacity.

The way that neural lace works is when injected by a needle that’s only a few millimeters in length, the “lace” unfurls and grows along an organism’s biological neural pathways. Once entwined with the neurons, it allows the biological form to be connected to external computing devices. So while we can’t achieve the goal of becoming a cyborg… yet, neural lace will finally allow someone the dream of doing hands-free hac-legal activities like any morally upfront citizen…

Though Musk hasn’t given a specific date for the release of neural lace to the public due to the product still being in its early stages of development. Many fans and supports are currently waiting eagerly for any news on the development of neural lace.
