On a bright and peaceful Sunday, a young boy living in Burntisland, Scotland passed away doing something that has become extremely popular among teens. Was it drugs? Alcohol? Extreme sports? No, sir. The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Some people wanted to step up their game; take the challenge to a new level. This is why Cameron Lancaster, 19, decided to jump into a deep, cold, water-filled quarry instead of dumping ice on his head.

He died jumping feet-first into a quarry from an extraordinary height just a few months ago on August 24th. A quarry is a large pit that can be filled with different substances like rocks or water. Reports say Lancaster was underwater for four hours before his body was recovered.

Surprisingly, there has been another recent death involving the Ice Bucket Challenge: Corey Griffin. Griffin helped turn the Ice Bucket challenge into a viral sensation after his best friend was diagnosed with the disease. Griffin passed away August 16th by drowning due to a diving incident.

These two grisly tales serve as reminders of how dangerous a fun activity can be once it goes wrong. For anyone else still doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, please proceed to do so with caution. For more information about the Ice Bucket Challenge or ALS, visit www.als.org.

    It was awful.
I don’t know why people have to do such things. It’s not worth it !

In my opinion, Ice Bucket Challenge isn’t the smartest thing to do in order to “support” a disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. I rather donate my money than donate my life, its not making a difference. If you want to help, try to actually get close to people and cooperate. People obviously do it for fun and views. Some don’t even know what the challenge is about!
