The craft fair has been hosted and staffed by Glen Burnie students and members of the Band Parents

Association for many years now, and families and friends have shared the experience of watching artists

and crafters create and express the love for their art for just as long. The biannual craft fair at Glen

Burnie High School has always been a great place for local artists and crafters to showcase and sell their

art to a wide audience of people.pic1

Meet Allen Board, photographed above, a pen illustrator who has sold his stippling

masterpieces at the Winter and Spring Crafter for a while now, and has loved every minute of

it. Stippling is a time consuming, but very rewarding, style of drawing done with ink and pen. If

you look closely, you can see the specs creating the bigger picture.pic2

“This is what the train station in Ellicott City looked like in the 70’s,” says Board when a

passerby pointed out the resemblance. It’s obvious this artist loves his Maryland home.

pic3This is Yvonne Torelli a self taught oil painter, who resides in Laurel, DE.  She was a

social worker for many years while she developed her craft.  She paints the things

that she loves-landscapes of Assateague Island and the Chesapeake marsh, sportsfish

she catches and releases, turtles from her backyard turtle sanctuary and birds she

sees in her yard and neighboring woods.pic4

“The fish always take the longest; because of the scale-work.”pic5

Torelli’s husband makes the frames for all her pieces to keep the prices low, but

honestly, the care taken into these pieces is priceless.
